| Perhaps you start by saying Hi.... | | |
| - Trouble -
Have you ever lost touch with close friends that your heart aches everyday. You miss so many things about them, times hanging out, laughing, talking, doing life deeply together. You think about them and miss them often. But so much has happened in their lives since you lost contact. You wonder if their lives are better without you. You don't know if you can to start again. You don't know how you could start agian. So your isolation continues.....
| While I was updating my profile with my new email address, I noticed something about the order of my favorite sports. I love sports. I really, really do. I grown up with sports all of my life. Recently, I've been contemplating quite a bit about which sport I love the most. That is not an easy task. There are lots of variable to consider in making such a subjective judgment. How was I introduced to the sport? When did I start liking the sport? How much I've played the sport? How much do I know about the sport? How much do I follow the sport? Relationships that have been built up by watching that sport together? But I think baseball is my first love when it comes to sports. Namely the Cincinnati Reds. I started going to baseball games with my dad when I was just a lil tyke. My dad and I still go see the Reds play several times every year together, one of those times being the first week of Aug. Considering my birthday is Aug. 5 and his is Aug. 9, we always take each other to the game. Typically the Reds conveniantly enough schedule a nice home streak during that week. This year however they will be on the road that week. I can't count how many Reds games I've been to in my life. I know it is a lot. My favortie game togo to all year is the Reds Opening Day. There is so much excitement and anticipation about the begining of a new season. Not to mention everyone is so thrilled to be able to wear t-shirts, shorts and sandles again after those long. cold, winter months. Not to mention all of the beer everyone is drinking on a day and time they should be at work. Hanging out with my friends talking for several hours while taking in a game at a ballpark. It truly is a beautiful thing. Tickets go on sale for the first opening day at the Great American Ballpark one week from today. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky few that gets tickets to the game next Saturday. All of that to say those are a coule of things I love about baseball. | | |
| Tonight I received one of the best Christmas presents ever!!! My older sister and brother-in-law surprised us tonight around 2am after driving 13 hours in a car to deliver it personally...their presence. I haven't seen them in over a year. Having my family together on Christmas this year is better than any gift I could imagine. My relationship with God makes this a truly "rich" Christmas. God Bless you this Christmas Season as you celebrate the birth of our Lord. | | |

Wow...it has been a while. I called this weblog There and Back Again.. after Bilbo Baggins' journal that he kept during his adventures in J.R.R. Tolkein's classic, Lord of the Ring. I wanted this to be a journal for my great adventure called life. A place to share my thoughts about the journey along the way. During the good times and the bad. I hope that I can get into to the habit of actuall writting in this journal to share some of the thoughts and experiences.
Let me start by sharing with you a little bit about a book that I just finished called Wild at Heart by John Elderidge. In Wild at Heart, John Eldredge claims some pretty interesting things. John claims that men are meant to be wild at heart. John claims that men grow up questioning whether or not they truly have the strength it takes to come through in the hard situations of life. Most men receive a serious wound when they think the answer of that question is no. John also describes three needs that originate from that inborn trait: a battle to fight, a beauty to win, and an adventure to live. It is a good book. We can dive into it a little deep later.
Speaking of adventure...I am going to Mammoth Cave with some friends tomorrow morning. I am really looking forward to encouting God through his creation and spending some time playing the fun game called "fellowship"! :)
